Legacy
Legacy is a response to the impact of the year of City of Culture 2017 in her hometown of Hull, within the city’s spaces and places. The work is a synthesis of careful research done within the various communities and organizations involved that were affected during and after the impact of the year of culture.
The Corona Couch
Nicola Lewis-Dixon is a multidisciplinary artist and photographer whose primary focus is the taboo subjects facing women in their everyday lives. She used the sofa in her family home as an anchor for what would eventually become her hugely prolific project The Corona Couch. When Dixon and her family found themselves locked in as millions of others around the world in March 2020 she thought that this would provide an opportunity like no other to explore family relationships and their intricacies.
Front Yard
The front yard is as much a metaphor as it is a space. Homes reflect the material successes of their inhabitants, their aesthetic tastes, and concrete the ties that bind family, lovers, and friends. When the shelter-in-place order was announced in March and time came to a proverbial standstill, I turned to my community to make portraits of people in their front yards.
Birdman
The project attempts to record the slow death of a culture — Pigeon racing as a typically British sport — that has changed beyond recognition since its inception. The photographs are extraordinarily rich and full of detail — the birds bind them together, they are the common denominator, but there is so much more in the images than just the pigeons. I

settlements in the world which is situated on the periphery of Nairobi,
Kenya’s capital with a population of approximately 2.5 million. Poverty,

Missed Care
The referendum on the UK’s membership of the EU was one of the most divisive
moments in modern history — back in 2016 and ever since then, the country felt
more polarised than ever before with a clearly growing sense of “us” and “them”.
People were either unable to or would refuse to see some of the good points that
the other side was making. The Remain side was branded “Project Fear” as they
were providing predictions of what would happen. Some of these didn’t happen,

The Palaces of Memory
Stuart Freedman has the kind of experience in photojournalism that the word
“expansive” hardly does it justice. Born in London, he has been a
photographer for just over 30 years now and his photography has been

Black Eyed Dog
The author opens up about his own struggles with Black Eyed Dog — A Photographic Healing Process. It was born out of a breakdown, a complete shutdown of his nervous system which made him find himself in a dark, gloomy place, one which he has never visited before.
The body keeps the score
The Body Keeps the Score takes its mysterious title from a book he found on his mother’s shelf when he was clearing out her house after her death. It refers to how trauma, something most would consider to have purely psychological consequences, can actually be internalised and transpire within the physical body rather than just the mind.
